Children's Activities
With its generally fine dry climate, South Africa is an easy place to entertain children. At the coast, you can take them
to the beach and let them build sandcastles or dabble in the rock pools. Inland you can turn them loose on the lawns of the
botanical gardens, or take them to the funfair, the zoo or the public swimming pool. In many cities there are restaurants,
such as the Spur chain, which welcome children and provide them with colouring-books and balloons.
Safety Although the locals are very child-friendly, safety-consciousness is not highly developed in South Africa, so you will need to keep a close eye on your children while touring. Only at some major tourist beaches and swimming pools will you find lifeguards on duty. Many monuments and lookout points have no safety barriers, or at best only minimal ones, to guard against a potential fall. |
